The BFT COMPACTA A20-180 is a compact wired infrared safety photocell system designed for automatic sliding and swing gates. Supplied as a transmitter and receiver pair, the photo beams create an infrared safety beam across the gate opening and can be connected to compatible BFT control boards to help detect vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles in the gate’s path.

When the infrared beam between the transmitter and receiver is interrupted, the gate automation system can respond according to the programming of the connected control board, helping prevent the gate from closing onto an obstruction. This makes the COMPACTA A20-180 an important safety accessory for residential, commercial and industrial automatic gate installations.

One of the main advantages of the COMPACTA A20-180 is its highly adjustable optical head. The photocells can be adjusted up to 90 degrees in either horizontal direction, providing a total adjustment range of 180 degrees. This makes installation easier where gate posts, walls or mounting surfaces are not perfectly aligned opposite one another.

With a nominal operating range of up to approximately 20 metres, the COMPACTA A20-180 is suitable for a wide variety of gate openings. Environmental conditions such as heavy rain or fog may reduce the effective operating range, so correct positioning and alignment are important during installation.
