The Guardall MG-500S is a heavy-duty electromagnetic lock designed to provide secure locking for automatic gates and access-control applications. With a holding force of up to approximately 550kg, the MG-500S provides strong magnetic retention while allowing the gate to be released electronically through a compatible gate control or access-control system. Designed for exterior gate applications, the MG-500S is well suited to sliding and swing gates where additional locking strength is required beyond the gate motor’s mechanical holding ability. When powered, the electromagnet securely holds the armature plate in position. When power is removed by the control system, the magnetic field releases, allowing the gate to open.

The MG-500S is a fail-safe electromagnetic lock, meaning the lock requires power to remain engaged and releases when power is removed. This makes it suitable for gate automation and access-control systems where electronic release is required. Correct installation, alignment and power supply are important to ensure the magnet and armature plate achieve full contact and maximum holding strength. The Guardall MG-500S is suitable for automatic sliding gates, swing gates and other compatible access-control installations. Electromagnetic locks are particularly useful on larger gates or installations where wind, gate movement or external forces could place additional pressure on the gate motor when the gate is closed. When used with an automatic gate system, the maglock should be correctly integrated with the gate control board so the lock releases before the motor begins opening the gate and re-engages once the gate has returned to the closed position.

In high-wind areas, the Guardall MG-500S can provide valuable additional holding force when the gate is in the closed position. Large, tall or solid gates can experience significant wind loading, which may place additional stress on the gate motor, hinges, brackets and structure even when the gate itself is within the motor’s normal weight capacity. Using a maglock helps secure the gate firmly closed and reduces the reliance on the motor alone to resist these external forces.
