The BFT Giuno ULTRA BT A50 Double is a powerful 24V hydraulic swing gate automation system designed for double swing gates in residential, commercial, multi-residential and very high-use applications. Using two heavy-duty hydraulic linear actuators, the system delivers smooth, controlled and dependable operation for two gate leaves while providing the strength and durability required for larger and heavier swing gates.

Designed for gate leaves up to approximately 5 metres long per side, the Giuno ULTRA BT A50 combines BFT's D-Track dynamic force-control technology with magnetic limit switches, opening and closing slowdown and selectable hydraulic locking. With a useful rod stroke of 392mm and an approximate 20-second movement time through 90 degrees, it is particularly well suited to large driveway gates, commercial entrances, apartment complexes, industrial properties and applications requiring frequent automatic operation.

The Giuno ULTRA BT A50 Double system is designed to automate two separate swing gate leaves. Gate length, gate weight, hinge condition, pillar dimensions, mounting geometry, wind loading and the amount of force required to move each gate leaf all need to be considered when selecting the correct automation system. Both gate leaves should always move smoothly and freely by hand before automation is installed.

Hydraulic Automation

Giuno Ultra swing motors use a hydraulic operating system, where pressurised hydraulic fluid is used to move the actuator and control the gate leaf. Hydraulic technology provides smooth, powerful operation and excellent durability under frequent use, making the Giuno Ultra range particularly suitable for larger, heavier and higher-use swing gate applications.

Wind Loads & Weight

The maximum gate weight and maximum leaf length should never be considered independently when selecting a swing gate motor. Although the Giuno ULTRA BT A50 is rated for gate leaves up to approximately 5 metres long and up to approximately 800kg, these maximum figures do not apply at the same time.

BFT specifies that the A50 can handle approximately 800kg at shorter leaf lengths, while a gate leaf approaching 5 metres is limited to approximately 300kg. This means gate length, gate weight and installation configuration must always be considered together when determining whether the motor is suitable for a particular application.

Understanding wind loads is particularly important with double swing gates because large, solid or enclosed gate leaves can act like sails in strong winds. Wind pressure can create substantial additional forces against both gate leaves, even when their physical weight is within the motor's stated capacity.

Gate design, surface area, location, wind exposure, leaf length and structural strength should therefore all be considered when selecting the appropriate automation system. For large, solid or highly exposed gates, additional engineering considerations or a different automation solution may be required even when the gate falls within the nominal weight and length specifications.
