The BFT Phobos BT B40 Replacement Arm is a 24V electromechanical linear swing gate actuator designed as a direct replacement for an existing Phobos BT B40 installation. It is ideal for replacing a damaged, worn or failed actuator while retaining the existing control board, accessories and gate automation setup.

Designed for swing gate leaves up to approximately 4 metres long, the Phobos BT B40 provides strong and controlled operation with a useful rod stroke of 470mm and approximately 2000N of push and pull force. It features magnetic limit switches, mechanical locking and compatibility with BFT’s D-Track force-management system when connected to a suitable BFT control board.

This product is supplied as the replacement actuator arm only and does not include remotes, a control board, racks, photocells or other accessories. Compatibility with the existing automation system should always be confirmed before purchasing.

Electromechanical Automation

Phobos swing motors use an electromechanical linear actuator, where a 24V electric motor drives a mechanical screw system to extend and retract the arm. This provides smooth, reliable gate movement with strong push and pull force, making the Phobos range well suited to everyday residential and commercial swing gate applications.

Wind Loads & Weight

The maximum gate weight and gate leaf length should never be considered independently when selecting or replacing a swing gate actuator. Longer or heavier gates place significantly greater loads on the actuator, hinges, mounting brackets and gate posts.

Wind loading is also an important consideration, particularly for large, solid or enclosed swing gates that can act like sails in strong winds. Even when the gate is within the nominal weight capacity of the actuator, wind pressure may create substantially higher operating loads and can affect the reliability and lifespan of the automation system.

Gate design, leaf length, surface area, hinge condition, site exposure and mounting geometry should all be considered before replacing or installing an actuator.
