Cement Australia Rapid Set Concrete is a convenient, fast-hardening concrete mix developed for quick-setting, non-structural applications where speed and ease of installation are important. Manufactured from cement, sand, selected aggregates and additives, it is particularly well suited to setting fence posts, non-load-bearing pergola posts, clothes lines, letterboxes and other uprights. The rapid-setting formulation can harden in around 15 minutes under suitable conditions, helping reduce waiting time on smaller jobs.

Supplied as a ready-to-use dry mix, Rapid Set Concrete requires no premixing—clean water is added directly into the prepared hole before the dry product is poured evenly around the post. Cement Australia recommends starting with approximately 2.0 litres of clean water per 20kg bag, with an additional 0.3–0.5 litres added only if required. Supports may generally be removed after approximately 1 hour, depending on ambient temperature and site conditions.

Rapid Set Concrete is not designed for structural applications. Cement Australia also advises that it is not recommended for use below 10°C, and it should not be used around aluminium posts or poles unless they have been appropriately primed or sealed in accordance with the post manufacturer’s recommendations. Excess water can reduce the final strength of the concrete.
